About Us - The History of a Passion

MISSION
Miniature Nativities...

The philosophy “Nature creates the nativity” comes from our love for the nature and from the charming representation of Jesus Christ’s birth, in order to merge the nativity with an object created by the nature, that means: to unify the “highest” value of the Holy Family with the objects which nature creates. This thought stands for the fact that the work is always different and it is always unique.

The artist, manually skilled in "miniatures", tries to create an expression, he keeps challenging himself in the search of the objects; all the characters and all the sceneries are “strictly” handmade, such as other works (those created by Anna Maria, the artist’s wife) which represent some Neapolitan sceneries and some of Neapolitan crafts. Everything has been made with love because the work must be “exclusive” and original, it must be realized as unrepeatable.

Raffaele Tiscione

RAFFAELE TISCIONE (1949) - Neaples - classical studies - Hobbyst.

His attention in nativities spread out in childhood : his father  (as De Filippo in the movie "Natale in casa Cupiello") built a very big nativity made of cork and newspapers, put together by isinglass and flour; therefore, the artist inherited the religiousness and the moral principles expressed by the nativity.

The artistic path started with acrylic painting made on wood and cardboard; afterwards, the nativity started to be the artist’s true love: in 1995 his passion spread out thanks also to his wife and his sons who are actually involved in building a website: the artist has developed the subject "Nature Creates the Nativity” and he started to build small nativities using ecological materials which he found in woods or on beaches (wood, branches and tree barks, little stones, musk and lichens). Afterwards he preferred to use recycling objects (seafood shells, dried fruit shells, tree root and any strange shaped objects which stimulates his fantasy).

The nativity must be as small as possible:

- The Nativity (main part), represents the expression of the family;

- The small country (small houses made of cork, have been handmade and hand painted);

The work is realized with fantasy and love, it becomes a whole which represents the house/family, by unifying the beauty and the charming of the nature which creates unique and unrepeatable shapes.

In the last years, the artist has participated in different exhibitions:

ANNA MARIA PALUMBO (1950) - Neaples - scientific studies - Hobbyst.

The artistic path started for fun: before her artistic career she organized kids parties and she did interior decorations with acrylic painting made on wood and cardboard; afterwards she started painting Walt Disney characters and she started carving on wood (clocks and lights); then, together with her husband Raffaele, the artist has discovered her passion for the "Napoletanità" (a feeling which stands for a deep relationship of being Neapolitan): she started to create some Punchinello statues, some plates with popular Neapolitan sayings written on, many works which represented Neapolitan sceneries and Neapolitan crafts, all made of recycling materials and hand painted, with a “strict” attention to the details.
